Be Careful What You Wish For
I know this is the sentiment of parents with teens, however as a parent of a cranky one year old, I feel differently. After several days of a disgruntled child, one that’s usually good-natured, I dream of the day he can tell me what’s wrong. Does your stomach hurt? Your ear? Your head? Are you hungry? Are you teething? Do you just want to be held? I go through the gamut of possibilities over and over desiring an answer. Although I know that won’t happen for probably another year.
This morning my good-natured child returned and I was able to see a bottom tooth slightly appear. He was in fact teething, so I should get used to this since it’s only tooth number eight. There’s clearly a reason teething happens when we’re too young to remember the pain. I’d be cranky too.
